• Captain Henry Morgan (1635-1688), the Welsh-born buccaneer from 17th century was the inspiration for the brand name. He eventually became Lt. Governor of Jamaica and received his knighthood from King Charles 1
• The creation of “Captain Morgan Original Spiced Rum” marked the beginning of the flavored rum segment. It was one of the first spirits brands to answer the consumers’ needs in their quest for flavored spirits.
• On April 15th, 2005 Captain Morgan Tattoo Black Spiced rum and its mysterious 'sweet-to-heat' finish became the newest addition to the Captain Morgan Family.
